Cloven Liver

The State Coroner says Senior Sergeant Chris Hurley was responsible for the death of Palm Island man Mulrunji Doomadgee in November, 2004 after he had “punched him so hard he almost cleaved his liver in two”.

Police Commissioner Bob Atkinson believes “there are no grounds at this stage to suspend any officer”.

The Police Union president also supports Hurley, saying the coroner had gone on a “witch hunt designed to pander to the residents of Palm Island rather than establishing the facts”.

Nice.

Riots in Palm Island followed the release of the first coroner’s report that said the injuries Doomadgee suffered were “consistent with a fall” (Judy Spence in link below).

It’s fine on my computer.

I have seen it on another computer before. I’m not sure if it’s a browser compatibily problem (IE/Firefox) or a OS problem (mac/windows) - because I’m sure it was using firefox on a windows computer the last time I saw it….

anyway, I don’t know what to do about it.

It always looks great for me - I use a PC at work and I have a Mac at home…

Okay, a quick, non-scientific check from my 12″ iBook G4 yields the following results:
Firefox and Flock - columns okay, footer (where says ‘powered by WP’) nudged several pixels to the right

Opera, Safari, SeaMonkey and DeskBrowse - columns okay, footer aligned perfectly

Internet Explorer for mac - empty space where left column should be. Left column where right column should be. Right column at bottom of page, left hand side of post area between last post and footer. Footer aligned perfectly. Ah, Microsoft - and might I add, IE for mac is possibly the ugliest Mac app I’ve opened on my computer, but I’ll move on.

And we’re having this conversation in the comments section of a post about a guy who was killed by a policeman… I know why, but it does bring up in my mind the issue of separating general comments that don’t relate to any posts, from post-specific comments - and how you could effectively achieve that separation. Oh, is it 4am already? Yeah, I’m rambling.
